Jodie and I have worked together on a number of projects, but even more important, each other’s brands. It wasn’t long before we decided to team up together and bring our audiences something that we saw was missing in the industry: a website and branding workshop.

Website by the Weekend is a three-day workshop experience for professionals, coaches, realtors, creatives, photographers, and more to get their photos and website revamped quickly! Prior to this workshop, each attendee will complete some pre-work for their website, along with a planning call with Jodie to plan their outfit!

Each attendee will walk away with new brand photos, a full functional Showit website, and new knowledge on their business. Now, let’s take a look at what will happen at this workshop from March 15-17 in Winston Salem, NC!

Day 1 of Website by the Weekend

On the first day of our workshop, each attendee will get brunch, along with hair and makeup in preparation of their mini brand shoot with Jodie. Along with that, each attendee will also review the assets they submitted for their brand voice and website. Plus you get to select one of three website layouts!

Day 2 of Website by the Weekend

On day 2 of the workshop, we’ll kick off with a lesson on the power of intentional branding and how crafting a purposeful message can propel your business to success from yours truly, Bernel! Following that will be a hands on power hour experience where Jodie will explore how you can use your photos!

After lunch, Jodie will be teaching on content marketing and strategy! You’ll also get access to your images from day 1!

Day three is launch day for all of our attendees following website reviews in the morning! Get excited for all of the tech talk you will need to ensure your website is properly set up and running! Once we wrap the final details, we’ll have a fun launch party!

You may know me as the branding and web designer who obsesses over the details so you don’t have to, we all desire to be great at what we do. Although once we get there, no one seems to talk about the messy middle. This motivated me to set the table and invite industry peers over to share stories about living and working in the creative world. Okay, guys, so I am super duper excited about today’s episode. And I know I kind of say that every week. But this week, I’m really excited because we got some cool things going on over here. If you follow myself and we’re gonna buy Braille or Jody brown on Instagram, you know that on Thursday, we announced that we have a new workshop website by the weekend. So I wanted to hop on here with Jody for a little bit on the Saturday morning and share with you guys the why behind why we’re doing this. So welcome, Jo. Hello, hello.

of course, of course. So actually, we just dive right in, right. Like, how this workshop came about? Because you recall. I don’t recall the exact conversation. Do you recall the exact conversation? We’ve talked about it a lot now. Now. Bernel.

Jodie Brim
My nickname is Dori still, you know, that memory, I just remember us talking about a way for people to get our experiences that we have at. I’m trying to think now did I say? Now? I’m trying to think back? How did we come up with this?

Bernel
Okay. I remember Yes, I was like, I do remember a conversation that you and I had, oh, I remember one or I remember a moment for me. I don’t know if this was the moment that you knew we needed a workshop. But when I did your VIP day experience, one of the things that you offered was a strategy session on how to use my brand photos. Right. And it’s interesting, because I had always thought like, that was something I need it. And I thought okay, let’s rewind a little bit. Yeah, I knew people needed brand photography when they work with me. So like, that’s always been a given. We’ve talked about having a package for years, like that people need brand photography. But that strategy piece was something new for me too. And it was like a little light bulb. In my mind. I was like, Well,

yes. And I do remember, I do remember a little bit now that because a lot of our clients, we cross over like it’s a lot of my clients come to you for the web design. And it was like, you know, why haven’t we done anything together? So I feel like I remember a big conversation of that. Yeah, yeah,

Bernel
yeah. It was several miniature moments, that big moment of what if it was a workshop, because we did we toyed with the idea of it being a package where they could work with the both of us. But this year, something that we’ve both talked about is giving a quicker experience with people. And it’s still getting that good quality, but just an expedited way to work with us and get in a good turnaround, like get your stuff in your hand, get launched, have your photos online. And yeah, so a workshop was like, Whoa, it’s like getting a VIP day with us. But both of us for

fun, and it’s fun get to be with other people. Yeah, it’s always exciting to network and just, you know, might have some future collaborations with some other people just because you’re in the building.

Yes, I love it. So before we dive into what we’re what we have in store for you guys in those three days, I did want to mention that this is for any creative entrepreneurs. will be good yeah, that’s pretty much the industry’s the top do you say coaches?

Oh coaches? Yeah. influencers? Because more than ever, guys, if your whole platform is on social media, you need a backup spot for people to come and shop your affiliate codes and shop your links,

especially for personal brands too. So yeah,

Bernel
yeah, that’s, that’s good. So all the creative entrepreneurs. So what is going to be at this workshop?

Jodie Brim
was do we even Nelson, on here officially on the podcast. I think we just go right in.

I don’t know we officially announced it. Well, if you cheat it and read the title on your phones, the title of the workshop is website by the weekend, a three day website launch workshop.

Jodie Brim
Yeah, I’m so excited. So excited for this.

Bernel
But it’s so exciting. And the dates are March 15 through 17th. So it is a Wednesday through Friday. And so literally by the weekend, you will be able to walk away with a fully functional show at website, your domain will be connected, your website will be live and you will be able to start marketing using your beautiful brand photos.

Jodie Brim
was so so ready for this and it’s in Winston Salem, North Carolina, if people are traveling in there’s a lot of hotels, everything’s within walking distance is very, very easy to access where we’re going to have it so excited about that, too. We haven’t even shared that yet. Oh, it’s a lot of stuff happening.

Bernel
Oh, that’s so true. It is in Winston sight. Well, I knew it was in Winston Salem. But it is so true that we didn’t tell you guys where it was located. So if you are not familiar with North Carolina, Winston Salem is I would say in the middle of Raleigh and Charlotte is so those are two major cities that you’re not too far from there is a major airport in Greensboro also not too far from Winston as well. So yes, very centrally located, if you’re coming into town, and so much to do once a very cute city and this workshop will be taking place downtown. So you will be in the center of all the action.

Jodie Brim
Yes. Okay. So let’s let’s share with it you want to share what’s all going down on those three days?

Bernel
Yeah, do you want to take it away with day one, because I feel like you’re ticking off, though.

Jodie Brim
Okay, so day one, I get to have fun with each guest, we are going to create some beautiful branded photos for you. And I don’t know if you know what of the difference between a brand brand photo and the difference between that and a headshot. So these are not just headshots, I don’t want to give too much away. But just think of it as creative and a vibe that’s unique to you. We’re going to do some prep work so we can make sure it is still customized to your individual brand. And makeup is included. We’re going to have the brunch, and there’s going to be some things that we’ll do in between each, each photoshoot that I’ll be working with doing. So their brand mini sessions that will have they’re about 30 minutes each. But in 30 minutes, y’all I can get so much content in 30 minutes. Okay, so you’re in good hands. I would even say in 10 minutes, I can get you a good 20 photos. Okay, so just imagine what we can do in 30.

Bernel
Yes, oh, my goodness, I am so excited for that your brand minis are always a fan favorite. Several of my clients have literally been able to give me all the photos for their website after having a brand Mini with Jody. So that tells you kind of the amount of unique images that you’re gonna receive there. Also that day. So starting with makeup, as Jodie mentioned, and brunch, because you know, we love brunch over here. But throughout that day, you’ll also get a chance to sit down with me when you’re not having your photo taken. And we will just be going over some of the things from your pre work. So we’ll have a little exercise. Prior to all coming together that just collect some information about your ideal client and, and your brand voice and all that great stuff. So you’ll have an opportunity to sit down with me that day and chat a little bit more about that brand voice and how we’re going to convey all of that on the website. Also, I wanted to mention that there will be three layouts for you guys to choose from. And you can already go check those out. They are linked on the sales page for the workshop, but also on my website. And so you can start kind of brainstorming which layout would be perfect for your site and even the type of imagery that you want. Because once you’ve chosen your layout your template, then you’ll be able to communicate that with Jody ahead of time too. So you guys will be able to make some magic there.

Jodie Brim
Yep. And even before the photo shoot, I want everyone to know that they are going to be having like a call with me will confirm outfits. You do get one outfit in 30 minutes but there’s ways to switch things up and get variety in your images just by throwing on a blazer or jacket or layering up a little bit there and just accessorizing which I will have some fun surprises there in the jewelry department. Just a few other things from our client closet that we have at JoJo creative so Oh, yeah, it’s gonna be fun. And you will get information in advance on like props to bring that will help bring your photos to life and to still convey the message that you want to put out to the world to just showcase what services and your talents, whatever you provide for your clientele. So

yeah, that’s Oh, that’s so exciting. I love Yeah, that’s gonna be so fun. And of course, good music, good food, good. All the way around, because we don’t do anything boring. Me and God are two very not boring people. High energy, I think is how people describe us.

Jodie Brim
Very necessary. Yes.

Bernel
So you’ll come you’ll have fun. You’ll get your photo taken, you’ll get all glammed up, we’re gonna talk about strategy. So that will bring day one to a close. So day two, we kick off day two with me teaching one of my favorite things. I love education, and I love branding. So I will be speaking on the power of intentional branding and how crafting a purposeful message can propel your business to success. That’s a mouthful, right guys? What does that basically mean? I am going to be talking about your brand messaging, some of the pillars of your branding will be also providing some brand audits throughout that time as well. So if you have current branding, and you want to sit down with me on day one, or if you don’t get a chance to have questions for day two, that talk will be all about branding and those visuals that lead you to success. And so then after that, we are going to have a power hour together, which is really hands on this org shot. One of the things I just want to mention is this workshop is not a sit in your chair and writing your notebook workshop. Like it is a up and around talking hands on experience, getting a chance to really ask me and Jody questions to pick our brains to be creative to get creative ideas from the people sitting around you. And then to implement all of that in a very fast paced, effective way. So that Power Hour is going to be super cool. It’s going to be a social media power hour, we are going to be talking about social media templates, and just using those beautiful brand photos that you got from Jody, we’re gonna be talking about how to use those. Yeah, and then Jody has some things she wants to go over during that power hour too, right?

Jodie Brim
Yeah, so I’m going to teach you how to use your photos for maximum impact depends on what you want to see come from them. If it’s I want to make more money, or I want to build a community or it just depends. So you and I or whoever is going to be attending us that day. I’m going to have all of that ahead of time. So I can know how I’m going to create the imagery. And then during our power hour, we’re going to talk all through that even just about captions and how to caption your photos to just to make sure it’s unique to you.

So yeah, yes. Oh my goodness, who else dreads writing Instagram? That is the least fun part. But yes, Jodie has some incredible tools that she has shown me and shown so many of her other clients, so I’m not gonna give those away because you do have to come to see what’s in her toolbox, but some good stuff as far as writing captions, so then that takes us to lunch, we will be having lunch and just really once again, sharing our experiences sharing our knowledge in just a very like, chill, fun, authentic way. Like we’re just real.

than that. Um, okay, so after lunch, Jodi’s teaching, and what are you teaching on Jody, that’s where I

was going to share about how to use your photos and more about the content marketing behind it, and the strategy that goes into it. So because there’s, you know, brand photography, it’s pretty a lot of times it is pretty, it’s aesthetically pleasing, but you have to have a strategy behind it. Okay, because it’s like, you know, what we’re gonna do with these photos. What do you want them to do? So that’s where I’m gonna go into more depth of how to how to do content marketing for your business.

Can we get that on a mug? A shirt? Some kind of?

Bernel
No, I feel like you know, we love sweat. We love swag. So there will be swag bags. Yeah, yeah, it looks like all right, so that stayed to the end of day two. We will have some group work time. Of course, this whole this whole workshop like make sure you bring your laptop because that’s going to be A key thing to have, but that will be some work time because you will be able to see your brand photos, Jody is going to be delivering those galleries on the end of day two, and will really start to sit down and just work together as a group of you know, where the most impactful image will be placed throughout your site. So that’ll be fun. And then you guys have the night off to hang out, explore Winston, there’s some cool stuff downtown, we are going to have some recommendations of things that you guys can do for entertainment. And so that will bring Thursday evening to a close. And then we kick off Friday morning, which Friday is gonna be a big day, me and Jenny, have some stuff up our sleeves for celebrating you guys on Friday. With the launch, yeah, with launching your website. So day three, we’re launching the site, the morning session really is going to be website reviews as a group. So we are all together, we are tweaking things on your website, we’re making sure all of that content looks good. We’re putting our best foot forward, getting everybody settled, me and Jody will be obviously walking around over your shoulder beside you sipping coffee with you. Making sure everything is placed in looking well. I’ll also be checking your mobile optimization, we’re going to be going over connecting your Google Analytics account, just all of those like tech talk things that everybody dreads doing, we’re gonna be doing that on Friday. so good for them to leave. I just, if I could have had something like this to you. I mean, of course, you design my site and stuff. So I mean, I’m very grateful. But just to think that all this can be done in three days where your calendar, you know, you have your as well in advance, you can block your calendar and just know, okay, I’m going to get my site to where I’ve always wanted it to be. And it’s going to it’s going to be beautiful designed by Bernel Oh my gosh, photos with Jodie especially, I know, there’s some people that, you know, I’ve been wanting to work with, I feel like that’s probably going to show up to this to this. Yes. I just feel like that’s going to feel so good to have that checked off the list. Especially starting in still in q1. So q2, you can come ready.

Bernel
Yes, yes. I love that. I love that. Because that’s what we’re doing in the afternoon, the afternoon on Friday will be a launch party. Like that’s literally what’s happening. So for my technical thinkers at home, how is that really going to work? I do want to stay? Because I you know, I’m a logistics person as well. And I was like, Yes, we have the pretty, but we want to have the purpose, of course. So ahead of time, you guys will have a checklist as far as obtaining your domain names. So where to purchase those what information I’m going to need, because what I’m going to be doing while we have lunch is connecting all of those DNS settings. Those are scary words, I know if you don’t know what I mean, it’s okay. That’s why you come to this because you won’t have to do it. White Glove Service, we’re gonna get all of that technical stuff connected, and be ready to literally hit publish in the afternoon. So when I say your website will be done, it’s not done for you to put on a bookshelf. It’s not like, sometimes I know, when people work with a web designer, they get their whole site design, and they’re like, Oh, that’s great, okay, like, we’ll launch when we’re ready, or we’ll launch when, you know, we get that new brand photoshoot. Or we’ll launch when we have a strategy of how we want to market it. Well, this takes all of that waiting out of the process. Because we’re gonna literally connect your domain name and your site will be live on Friday, when you walk out, people will be able to go to www dot awesome creative.com Your site will be up and so that’s something that’s going to be super cool. I mean, who doesn’t want a fully polished? Website? mobile design is pretty you have some launch graphics because we talked about it on day two, you have some bomb photos of you because we took those on day one. So it’s just it’s a it’s gonna be a cool experience. Like you just got to be there.

Be proud to finally show your website when people ask What’s your website? Oh, just go to my Instagram. No, they can go to your website.

Exactly. Everything will be there. So is it too good to be true? No, it’s not. But if you know anything about Bernel I love given homework. Um, I am a prep work person. I feel like an ounce of preparation is better than prevention. Like yeah, that’s right.

Bernel
Do you think through that word, um, but yeah, I so in advance Jodie and I will both be offering you sessions where you’re going to have an opportunity to get on Zoom and chat with us, Jodi, of course, for the branding imagery, and bringing props and all that great stuff, all of the brand photography strategy, she’s the boss. That is it, you’re gonna really get a lot of value in that session, and then you’ll be able to talk to me about your branding your content, we’re gonna go over kind of your content, and then even what images or what you want to convey, like, what is the emotion that you want to convey on your site? And so then me and Jody will convene together and have a whole plan for when you step in the building.
