The Creation of Rebel and Rise

While Katie was working long hours for little pay in her last role, she started to find small jobs on the side. That’s how she stumbled into working on Showit sites with her friend Kelsey Kerslake. She quickly fell in love with the work and stepped into the role of junior designer, then the idea of a Showit Support and development business came about.

At the time, Katie’s company was one of very few Showit focused companies. With the addition of so many additional developers and designers working in Showit, Katie is excited for the future of the platform.

Naming Rebel and Rise

While Katie’s brand hasn’t always been known as Rebel and Rise, when she started to grow into an agency, she wanted to rebrand. As entrepreneurs, most of us have this story of quitting the nine-to-five to pursue this dream, almost in a rebellion. With the values of Katie’s brand, she wanted to help other entrepreneurs by uplifting them—hence rise.

The Importance of Full Transparency

As entrepreneurs, we’re all human, which means we often face the same struggles, situations, and obstacles in life and business. Katie believes that full transparency is vital in a business to connect with potential clients and other business owners.

Finding the space on your social media outlets to allow life to happen and address it can also show empathy. Over the last few years, we’ve gone through a variety of major changes and national events that have interrupted our work and the natural flow of our marketing, therefore, it’s important that you can be transparent with your audience.

This also opens the door for you to share about what’s important to you as a person and in your business.

Services for a Website Development, Support and Education Based Business

Rebel and Rise is a website development, support and education based business for Showit websites. Their services include Showit development, white label design, hourly Showit support, and VIP days for development.

Showit Development

Their primary service is Showit development, meaning that they will take a designer’s mockups and build it within Showit. Oftentimes designers will mockup a site first, then hire out the development of it within Showit, because it feels tedious to basically design it twice. This process also includes domain setup, blog migration, and integrations to create a fully functional website.

White Label Design

Another important service they offer is white label design work for other designers. Essentially, white label design is where a designer hires another designer to work under their brand to work on a project. This is valuable for when you’re trying to finish up too many projects at once, want to focus on the creative director role, or simply just want to scale your business. It allows you to stay in your zone of genius.

Showit All: Learn Showit & Business Foundations

If you’ve been considering growing your design business with Showit developement and design, Katie has created Showit All, a course for designers to learn the Showit platform, as well as business foundations. You can sign up for the waitlist here!

THREE ACTIONABLE STEPS TO MOVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD

Now to my favorite question here on the show, I asked Katie, what are three actionable steps that someone could take today to move their business forward?

  1. Get professional brand photos taken for your website.
  2. Build a website if you’re running a business.
  3. Consistency is key in being visible online.

Bernel
Today on the podcast, I am joined by Katie Katie is the founder and CEO of rebel enterprise, a show it development and support agency that helps designers and entrepreneurs focus on their zone of genius. From hourly website updates to full day development. intensives r&r strives to provide services that meet their client’s immediate needs, and allows them to do more of what they love. I am so excited to have you here today. Katie, how are you? Good, good. I have been looking forward to this call. Because you were one of the trailblazers when it comes to helping people develop their websites, and really being a support system for other designers. Yeah, we kind of like before show it kind of blew up, which it’s like, it’s huge now like it keeps growing, which is amazing. Like, yeah, we were kind of the first ones to kind of niche down to that specific service model. And yeah, it’s been amazing. Yes, I love it. I actually stumbled upon your page by like, typing in show it support years ago. Oh, really? Yeah.

Bernel
That was the hashtag. So SEO works, guys. Because the hashtag, I was like, show it support. Like, I am a designer, I’m busy sometimes, you know, you need to offload things. That is how I found you. And then we were able to work together. And I mean, just an amazing, amazing experience.

Bernel
I have never asked you though, about your journey. So you know, how did this come about? What made you choose to niche down so specifically to development, design, support, education, all of those things?

Katie Harrington
Well, I had kind of come off of I was working full time in the music industry working like super long hours, I wasn’t getting promoted, low pay. So I started doing just like anything I could on the side just to try and get out. And I started working with Kelsey Kerslake from Pine gate road. She and I actually went to college together. So we had been chatting and she was building websites on show it. And she was like, Well, I really need help with somebody like building these out. Like I’ll teach you and you can like learn it if you want like and I was literally like building websites at concerts, like on the side. Like, while I was working and like I loved it like and it just kind of grew from there. And I started kind of being like a junior designer, like kind of just taking anything that I could get it. And as that kind of progressed, I realized that I wanted to just work in show it and that’s how that kind of idea for sure that support and show it development came to be which didn’t really exist at that point. And then as show it started to grow and more designers, you know, started to really look into show it it’s kind of just, you know, only grown from there, which is been amazing. Yeah, that’s been huge. As I said, like, I your page was the only page that came, like four years ago when I searched for that I know. And there’s so many show it developers now, which I love. I think it’s so great. But it was like, oh,

Katie Harrington
you know, like this little baby show dollars.

Bernel
It makes me so happy. Yes, yes. Let’s come on leads into my next question. Um, because you have mentioned before on Instagram, and just in conversations, that full transparency is so important. And so why do you think that is like how do you feel like that helps impact these, you know, baby? Show it developers?

Katie Harrington
Yeah, I mean, I’ve I feel like just being fully transparent in everything, like I am my business and my business is me. So everything that I believe in, like as part of my my business’s core values. So like, I think it’s so important for entrepreneurs, especially to be open and honest about everything that they’re going through, because nine times out of 10 like somebody else is going through the same thing. And when somebody else, you know, sees like, oh, well like she’s had a business for a few years and she’s still going through the same things I am like, it creates kind of this connection and this bond that like, I think can help mediate some of that entrepreneur isolation that people go through. And like life isn’t all rainbows and you know, sunny days, like, I think it’s important to talk about the bad days too, and, and what the people are going through. And people can really connect with that and talking about it, I think is important.

Bernel
For sure, for sure, I completely agree with you, I think that the nature of running a personal brand, like a brand where our faces are attached to it, there is a certain level of authenticity that you just have to bring to the table. And that creates that trust factor there as well, for your clients. Speaking of the not so good days, yeah, like that, something that I really appreciate about your page, you talk about real life things outside of design. And I think that it just helps us resonate with you, and helps us realize, like, Hey, she’s a real person. And sometimes, you know, we were talking this morning about just the world is a heavy place. And so sometimes you have to take a step back from selling and just embrace that and fill that as part of humanity.

Katie Harrington
Now, we don’t live in a world that is easy to live in. And I personally have had a really rough past few years, just with everything going on. And it’s okay to talk about that. And I find it kind of cathartic to be able to talk about it, because it makes me feel less alone. And I think that it’s important for other people to know what’s going on in other people’s lives, too. Like, I run this business, but also like, my daily life also impacts that business too. So if I disappear for a few days, like, here’s the reason why, like, I’m feeling really heavy, because there was another school shooting like, and that’s okay. And I think it’s important not to put blinders on to just be your business on social media. Because you you are you’re like I said, like you are your business and like things that are important to me, I make sure to reshare and I’m sure that’s sometimes polarizing for people. As you know, some of those things can be very political, but it’s really important to me, because that’s such a huge part of who I am and, and what I believe in, which directly translates to my business as well.

Bernel
Yes, I love that. I love that and talking about really standing behind our belief systems and, and being bold in the industry, your business name. Literally, I am so excited to hear the story behind that. How did you decide to name it because it used to be Katie Harrington design, right? Yeah.

Katie Harrington
Yeah, that’s how I kind of started, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I went to school for graphic design and journalism. So like, I came from a design background, but I worked in music for a long time. So I’d always been kind of attracted to that kind of like, leather jacket, rebellious kind of vibe. Like, that’s always been me, kind of punk rock ish. So I always liked that vibe. And then I was I was thinking and looking to move towards more of an agency model. As we started to grow more into show and development, rebel and rise, just kind of like popped into my head. And I like, held it for like a year or so. You know, like, I was like me and like, I don’t know, like, will this resonate. And then I was like, you know, I’m just gonna do it, like rebel, like, resonates with me so much. Because like, as entrepreneurs, we all have these stories of how we like quit our nine to five and we decided to do what we wanted to do, which is an act of rebellion. And then rise being like, our company specifically helps other entrepreneurs in certain ways by supporting them, which is kind of like a you know, lifting people up, which is really important to us as well. So it ended up working and and we love it, and I don’t I don’t foresee changing

Bernel
anytime soon. I love it. I think it’s us so well. The brand photography that came with it just though I was like, Okay, we gotta get this is we’re rock stars. Got it. I just I love so much because I feel like my brand aesthetic is probably the complete opposite. Very light, very airy, very just like we’re feminine and girly over here. But I think that’s just a testament to how well you do your job of development and white labeling. Because working with you that wasn’t a problem. You know, what I mean? You are personal styles. I don’t feel like got in the way of what the client’s vision is. Exactly. And so I think that’s something if you’re listening at home, if you’re thinking about hiring a designer, I think that’s something to keep in mind that even if your personal design style does that match that designers style. If they’re talented, they’ll they’ll make it for you

Katie Harrington
know, like that’s what portfolios are for to show like what you’re capable of and like a body of work. Like, yeah, what, what felt right for our brand and for me, and what I wanted at the time, doesn’t directly translate to client work, right? Like, we’re all as designers trying to be as, you know, unbiased as we can focus on the client and the client journey to create exactly what what works best for them. So it does it, there’s not a direct correlation, or there shouldn’t be I do see that sometimes with designers, they have a certain style, which is fine. And some people hire them for their style. That is not the case for us.

Bernel
Yeah, no, I completely agree. I’m just like, hey, we can go anywhere from colorful to dark and bold to editorial to light and airy, like, you know, it really is unbiased design, that was the best word.

Katie Harrington
Yeah. And that’s kind of like, What I enjoy about it too, is we get to see so many different kinds of, of web designs, or we get, you know, especially in development, we get to see so many different designers, you know, give us these beautiful websites, and we get to build them, but they’re all different. And it’s fun to kind of see how they change. And, and it’s never a dull moment, because you’re always working with different people and seeing different styles. And that’s like one of the fun parts for sure.

Bernel
Yes, I love it. I love it. So while we’re on the topic of your services, explain some of the services that rebel and Rhys

Katie Harrington
offers. Yeah, so our main services show development, meaning that we will take your designers mock ups, and then build it within show it a lot of designers that we have come across, they like to design mock ups first, and then recreating them in show it feels like double work, or it feels tedious because they’ve been staring at the mock ups and the design designer, and it’s just, you know, extra time. So we offer showing development to take those mock ups and turn them into a functional website, along with the domain setup, the blog migration, all of the integrations and connections that come along with creating a fully functional website. And then we found that it takes so much time off a designer’s play to not have to do that. And then they can focus on either bringing in new clients or working on additional websites. For other clients, it just opens up a lot of time and space, which is been really necessary. Because really the zone of genius, a web designer, is to create web designs, not necessarily build them out in the platform. So that’s our main focus. And then we also offer white label web design, we offer hourly show it support services for anyone, entrepreneurs, designers, anybody that has a show at site that may need, you know, updates, or you know, page ads, any kind of, you know, hourly support we offer as well. And then we recently also added a VIP day service called development days. And that is like either a half day or a full day where I just sit down and focus on either that could look like maybe somebody just needs something developed really quickly, like they need a fast turnaround, it kind of jumps you to the front of the line of our wait time. And I’ve also been doing white label design. In those days, we do template customization there, I’ve done full sales pages, it’s just kind of like anything, show it that we can do in there, if you need it quickly. That’s a good solution to that.

Bernel
Yes, I recently added that as of this month as well. Design on demand days is what I saw a little different, I know you’re handling a lot more of the development side. But that same concept where I can design your website, lay it all out in Adobe XD or Photoshop or however you need those files. And I can lay that out in a set amount of hours, it kind of bumps you to the front of the list. And then you can take that to a developer, you know, book a different day. And we can build that site out. And I have loved that model of being able to kind of design on demand so to speak, because you do have a dedicated amount of time for fast turnaround. So I love it for the client, but I also love it from a business standpoint, because I felt like it’s it’s enabled us to serve more people faster.

Katie Harrington
Yeah, there’s always those people that they are like whining this kind of quickly. And like there wasn’t really a solution to that. And this is that solution. It’s kind of like a luxury service that jumps in the front of the line, they get a large deliverable in a short amount of time. And I enjoy working in Sprint’s in short amounts. I try not to do more than a couple per month just because they are pretty draining but I always like feel like like I’m like yeah, like that was good. Like I feel really accomplished and like I always have a good time and and the people that we’ve we’ve worked with on on these development days have have been awesome. So it’s yeah, it’s been interesting and I’ve seen a lot more VIP days. Services pop up which I Think I mean, I think it’s awesome. I think it’s great.

Bernel
Yeah, I love it. And I think it’s something to talk about, even if you’re not in the designer development, web world, VIP days can be an excellent source of income in other industries. And I feel like it has taken over in our industry, but not so much and other ones. I recently went in to a hairstylist to get a service. And she mentioned having those days, she was like, here’s my, yeah, it was, it was a very different experience, because she said, like, you know, here’s my booking, here’s my normal days, right now, we’re booking like three weeks in advance. However, she was like, I always have two days on my calendar that are like Rush days, you can come in, like, it kind of bumps you to the top of the list. And so I was like, wow, I started brainstorming, like what other industries could benefit from that? That’s really smart.

Katie Harrington
I never thought about that before, actually, yeah, I

Bernel
was like, I think most service based businesses do something like that.

Katie Harrington
Yeah. Here’s like, there are salons or anything that that says like, if you’re willing to pay more for for that, like, yeah, why not? It’s a great income boost to

Bernel
it is it is and then I feel like it’s a great customer service boosts because sometimes, you know, as busy entrepreneurs or just as busy people, period, time is something we don’t have, sometimes you’re in a situation where you will pay for convenience.

Katie Harrington
Yeah, I’m 1 million present.

Bernel
So I love that. I love that. I love that. And then we’ve never talked about white label design on the show here. So if you are does a designer who’s just starting out, and you’re kind of like, What does white label design mean? Or if you are, you know, a more seasoned designer, you don’t know what white label means? How would you define that? Katie?

Katie Harrington
Yeah, I think that it’s actually it’s interesting. You bring that up, I actually had somebody messaged me on Instagram the other day, they’re like, I’m sorry, this is a dumb question. But like, what is that? Like? What is like white labels? Right? I’m like, not a dumb question at all, I guess sometimes that jargon, like you just kind of assume people know what you’re talking about. But yeah, so white label design is when you hire another designer to do a design project for you under your company’s name. So for example, just hypothetically, if Brunel was like, really busy and had a website, she really needed to finish up. And she had a few extra pages, or maybe even the whole thing, who knows, and she just needed some help a white label designer, she could hire and they would do the design, she would creatively direct to that. And then that design would still be under her businesses category. So it would still say, you know, website by Brendan biter. Now at the bottom, like, we don’t take design credit for that. And the reason for that is that we really enjoy working with other designers. And I like designing in different, you know, styles and aspects and things like that. And I also like to be able to support and help other designers when they’re stressed. And they need help. without them feeling like they are letting go of it too much, if that makes sense. Because it’s still their client, it’s still their baby like, and we, we want to help in a way that makes them feel supported. And white label design is still ultimately creatively directed by the designer who hires. So that is something that we really enjoy doing. And it can look anything from full website design, we’ve even done situations where, you know, maybe somebody has started with a homepage and an about page and it’s already like, the creative direction is there, but they’re like, we just need these extra pages built out, we don’t have enough time we’re busy. And then we can go in and fill in the gaps, which just takes weight off people’s shoulders. It takes a lot of pressure off. And it just kind of like is a stress reliever for designers that may have, you know, over booked or maybe a project has gone longer than they anticipated. And things start to get a little bit crunched for time. So it’s something that we really enjoy doing, and have started to do a lot more of actually this year, which has been really

Bernel
fun. Yeah, it’s amazing like speaking from a person who you know, books three months in advance, and has a really long waitlist. I feel like that knowing that this service exists and knowing that like, hey, I can call Katie, if we you know, we need another page finished or if there’s a page add on or if somebody has already launched a creative direction has been set, but then they come back. Excellent client I love working with but they come back and they’re like, Hey, let me can I add a sales page? Or can I add this additional page but there’s just no space on my calendar. It’s a truly invaluable service. So if you are a designer who feels swamped, who feels like you can’t keep your head above water Who knows, like, you know, you’re working at two o’clock in the morning or you’re working on Saturday and Sunday? Like, it doesn’t have to be No, we don’t ever you really does not have to be there. There is a support system, rebel and rise is an incredible team. So yeah. Yes, I want you guys to really utilize that. Because, hey, I’ve been there. I think I think we’ve all been there.

Katie Harrington
We’ve all been there. Yeah, yeah. Before and when it was just me when it was before it kind of started to grow a team, like, I got to that point to where it’s like, you just you can’t do it all. And that’s okay. And I know how hard it is to let go of things because they are your like, your babies like it’s your business. I totally get that. But once you find the right people that you can, like, really trust? And yes, you know, that’s so important. And we understand that hesitation of letting projects go. But we’re kind of right there to hold your hand with you to make you feel comfortable. And then you get that sense of relief, or you’re like it’s not, I don’t have to do everything like, that is not the end game by being a business owner. Like, we really want you to focus on your zone of genius. Like that’s kind of our thing, where it’s like, what do you want to do? What is kind of your thing? If that’s web design, then maybe you don’t want to be building things out in the actual platform. Or maybe you don’t really want to be building sales pages later. Like, maybe that initial, like creative direction is your thing. And that’s okay, like, then you should focus on that, because that’s what you’re going to be the best at anyway.

Bernel
Yes, yes, yes, yes. And I love that phrase zone of genius. Someone recently deemed me about a project that really was not my zone of genius. It was more of a membership based site. And there are other show it designers who do that better. And that’s literally what I told the lady I was like, That is not my zone of genius. However, I have a whole referral list of people that I have personally worked with I trust rebel and rises on that list, and it was like your Hugo. And it’s funny, but she appreciated it. She was like, Thank you for telling me that that’s not your zone of genius. Um, and I was like, Sure. And she was like, Well, I really like your style. And I was like, Well, I would be happy to come on as a creative director, and to give input for things like that. However, if everybody just stays in their lane, yeah, and there’s enough for everybody, number one, and then also your client will be served in the best way possible.

Katie Harrington
That’s like staying in your lane. Like, I love that phrase so much. Because I think people are like, oh, like, well, they get kind of, like, offended by that. But it’s like, here’s the thing, like, we can’t all be really good at everything. Exactly. It’s impossible. So if we, you know, really focus on what we’re really good at. And like, that’s, that is the best way that we can serve clients. And like you said, there’s, there’s a seat for everybody at the table. If like, memberships are not my thing, either. And I have a list of people and I’m, I’m happy to pass that along. Because there’s enough work for everybody. And in that it’s kind of like that kind of entrepreneur, you know, code of like, I want everybody to succeed. Like this isn’t about competition, like I want, you know, other show developers like I’m so happy that that’s a thing now like because more and more people are using show it. So there needs to be more than one company that does it, you know. And I think it’s some people kind of forget about, you know, that that mindset, and I understand that it’s the, the competition mindset is easy to fall into. But again, you don’t have to know how to do everything, you shouldn’t do everything. Because if you do a bunch of stuff, you’re not going to be really good at all of it.

Bernel
Exactly. And I think the competition mindset really is limiting. It’s a very limiting belief. Because as long as you operate like that, you won’t find your zone of genius, right? Because you’re trying to take it all you’re trying to do it all you’re looking at what your competitors are doing and trying to do that as well. And it’s like this, that might not be your superpower. So you don’t find your superpower because you’re watching other people. Be hard to

Katie Harrington
find that zone of genius. You know, you don’t know but you just keep keep trying new things, but not doing it all. Just nobody needs to do it all.

Bernel
No, not at all. Take it from a recovering perfectionist. Clean over here. Like, at this point in my business. I am like Could someone else do it? How how can I outsource all of the tasks that do not number one, bring me joy. And number two that don’t have to be done by me. There are some tasks I’m sure you know, Katie, as there are some tasks that have to be done by lists. Yeah. But there’s a lot of tasks that don’t.

Katie Harrington
Yeah, I even like I started really thinking about that. I in the past year or so, or it’s like, what makes me feel kind of like sticky or like, I don’t look forward to doing it or even, like dread doing it. And it, it turned into things like, you know, internal reviews or you know, social media or things like that. And I’m at that point to where I’m like, once you’ve kind of started the ball rolling on outsourcing, you’re like, Let’s go anymore, which is not to say that we’re not still doing,

Bernel
we’re still doing a lot of whistleblowing a

Katie Harrington
ton of things, but it’s more focused on you know, that kind of like CEO role. And, you know, bigger like that bigger picture ideas, versus the actual, like, nitty gritty. But I still like to have my hands and things like, I’m still watching and like looking and making sure that everything’s moving along. But systems in place to make sure that that happens, even if I’m, you know, out for the count because of COVID. You know,

Bernel
whatever. Yeah, nothing makes me happier than sitting down and drawing the logo myself sitting down and designing the homepage, myself. But mobile optimization not really like that. spark joy for me.

Katie Harrington
For a lot of people, we offer that too, by the way we can do that.

Bernel
Yes, I love it. I love it. So you know, just kind of knowing what what sparks joy. All right. So for the people who are like, this is great, but I don’t know where to start. I don’t know where my zone of genius is. I don’t really even know what this show it thing is you guys keep talking about. Katie is relaunching her course tell us the name of it, because it’s so great.

Katie Harrington
Our course is called show it all like, you know, like no, no, but showing. And it is a like fully comprehensive course on learning to show a platform. And then it also dives into kind of like basic business aspects a little bit and focusing on the services that you can offer using show it as a platform. And yeah, we launched it for the first time in February. And it’s been amazing. This first round has been really great. And we’re, you know, constantly adding new things to it as show it releases new updates and stuff, which has been really awesome. So yeah, we’re getting ready to relaunch that next month. And yeah, we’re excited. It’s been really fun. That was like my first foray into courses. And I’ve been wanting to do a show, of course, for a really, really long time, because there was such a need for like, fully comprehensive, like I recorded for months, like this is not a small course like it is. There’s a lot of videos, and which is great. But it also becomes like this tutorial library that you can refer back to as well. So obviously, you get lifetime access to it. We’ve got bonus trainings, we’ve got q&a calls, like it’s a whole, it’s a whole thing. So we’re excited, we’re excited to relaunch it again, we do have a waitlist on our website, which is it’s show it dash all.com Is the show at all website where the

Bernel
and I will definitely make sure to put that in the show notes as well as your website will be awesome. Yeah, I’m excited. That sounds incredible and so exciting. And like something that I wish I had seen. I was ago, but I wish this existed

Katie Harrington
when I was learning it because there was like, enjoy, it has amazing help docs, and they have their own videos. And it’s amazing. But everything else is kind of like you’re just kind of piecemealing it or like looking through the Facebook groups, which is it works and it’s great. That’s how I learned but it’s like, I felt like there was such a need for an all in one comprehensive course that goes from, you know, going over the settings and even just what the settings mean to like situational tutorials of how to build a pop up, or, you know, things that might come up that you don’t really think about and how to do those things. And we even go deep in the course about like, you know, how we even develop from certain like from XD or illustrator and how we take that and build it in show it so it goes really deep. It’s a really deep dive into show it as a platform and then we also get into like creating a business based around show it and how you can kind of grow that and scale that whether that looks like you know, extra side hustle money to you which is totally great or if you want to make more money than that, like it’s all possible. And there’s such a growing need for Charlotte stuff now too as people more and more people start to you know, find show it and realize like what a powerful tool it is so I think it’s I think I only think show it’s gonna keep growing from here.

Bernel
Oh for sure. For sure. It’s I mean, I started using show it about five and a half years ago. And it’s just the growth is exponential. Yeah. From that to now. The conferences, the lives, the YouTubes, the all the things that show it has put out. So really support people. And it’s more than a website platform. It really is. I feel like an online community agree. Um, and I love that you’re almost building the university hub for them.

Katie Harrington
Which is like, nice. Like, I just like when I saw the need for it, it was never like, I never intended for that to be the thing. But like, if that’s, if that’s what’s needed, like, that’s, we’re down to that. Like, we we started doing YouTube tutorials and things like that. And just to try and create to help people people were asking, and we just kind of like, it just kind of evolved into that. And yeah, it’s it’s been awesome. We love show at the show it team is amazing. Like you said, it’s totally a community and like, I love that you can talk to real people, if you have problems. And there is just like, a familial feeling like when you’re talking to them, they appreciate you. Yeah, that I didn’t get from other platforms. And yeah, I don’t. I don’t have words for show up. Because they mean so much to me.

Bernel
Yes, if you’ve been around listening to any of my episodes, you know, we love show it and I talk to people, all my guests love show it. thing

Katie Harrington
over here

Bernel
is what it is. But yes, I could not agree with you more. I love show. And I think they’re gonna keep growing, if you are looking to, as you said, built that side income or just know how to better work your own website that could benefit you. So yeah, all of that linked in the show notes.

Katie Harrington
Amazing. Yeah, we’re excited to welcome new students in and yeah, it’s kind of one of those things where you can kind of take it for what it is, if you don’t really need the super basic stuff. We have a whole Advanced section that’s like, gets really deep into WordPress, and you know, plugins and like those situational tutorials. So, yeah, that will open up again in mid June. So we’re, we’re

Bernel
excited. I love it. All right, Katie. So this is one of my favorite parts of the show, ask every guest. What are three actionable steps that a person could take now to just move their business forward? And that can be about show it that can be about business, whatever you want to tell people because you’re a wealth of knowledge?

Katie Harrington
Oh, that’s a tricky question. Three actionable steps. I think one of the most important things that sets you apart from especially with new businesses is getting professional brand photos taken for your website. It not only makes it easier for a web designer to create a beautiful website, but I also think it just makes you look more professional and and stand out from the crowd. So definitely brand photos. If you don’t have a website, you need a website, clearly, of course. And then I think one of the hardest things I struggled with when I was first starting out, specifically with social media is just being consistent. So just like consistency is key when it comes to just even just being visible. Like you don’t even have to like you don’t have to post every day. But like, you don’t want to disappear for two months and then come back either. So just staying consistent. staying the course. And just kind of, you know, trusting, trusting the process.

Bernel
I love it. Those are excellent. Actually. That’s good. Because I was like, I don’t know, those are so good. Those are so good. And I feel like you know, people don’t know where to start. We didn’t know where to start at one point and it’s always giving direction. Well, thank you so so much for being on the show today. I’m so excited to hear back. From this.
